Missionary Support
Twice each year our local church raises funds to help support the ministry in Togo, Africa.
Currently, the Alex City COGOP is the only Harvest Partner for the nation of
Togo.  The COGOP was established in the nation of Togo in 1991 with 56
members. As of August 2006, Togo’s membership in the COGOP has grown to
over 3,000, with 26 organized local churches and 10 missions operating. Togo
is a nation on the south coast of West Africa and is about twice the size of the
state of Maryland. It hails a population of 5,548,702 according to the 2006
census report, but has an infant mortality rate of 60.6/1,000 births. Their official language is
French. And, 51% of the Togolese population practices traditional African religious beliefs
that include witchcraft and Voodoo; 29% are Christian; and 20% are of the Islamic belief.
You can readily see from such stats that Togo is indeed a ripe mission field for the COGOP.

This is the flag of Togo.  The red symbolizes the blood which was shed
for the independence and protection of Togo.  The green symbolizes
nature and agriculture.  The yellow symbolizes the National Unity and
maturity of the people of Togo.  The white symbolizes peace, wisdom,
dignity, and light.  The five-pointed star is the symbol of life.  There are
five stripes.  Just like five fingers, these stripes symbolize action.

The Alexander City local church has set their mission-giving goal at
$1,200/year which supports the $9,000/year budget that the
International Global Outreach Committee designated for Togo as the
necessary means to keep the COGOP functioning in this nation. Such
meager ministry funds provide our National Overseer the means to
assist needy pastors within his nation, assists with evangelism and
outreach efforts, provides training and equipping of pastors and leaders,
provides funds to disciple our laity, and assists our nations with
expenses incurred to conduct special events such as youth camps,
national conventions, crusades, etc.

The COGOP, as a whole:
  • now ministers in over 125 nations around the globe.
  • currently has 12,000 preaching points (organized churches and mission works).
  • has over 8,000 licensed ministers.
  • increased in membership last year by 125,000.
  • had over 10,000 people join one of our churches each month last year.
  • will see 540 people converted and 205 baptized in a 24-hour period.
  • experienced 200,000 souls saved last year and 75,000 baptized!
